First, the Shimano Ultegra 6700 Tubeless wheelset with Hutchinson Fusion 2 tubeless tires. I've ridden tubeless a few times since the introduction about five years ago and have always been positively impressed with the character of the tubeless wheel/tire combination. This wheel/tire continues the combination of positive feedback - feeling every bit of chipseal at lower speeds - and surprising comfort at speed. The ride seems to soften the faster you go... Yet, response at all speeds is definite and high speed carving turns while descending are unique and similar to fine cruising skis at speed! Not like racing clinchers, more "refined" - not harsh, at all. Climbing is on par with the finest wheels I've ridden and I noticed a rolling ease on one of my familiar climbs at the breakover that was noticable. Interesting... I should note that I rode these at 85psi to use them as designed - they are very efficient there. Noticeably more comfortable than comparable tube tires, also. I think these are a wheel/tire combination suited to "gentleman enthusiasts" who ride with strength and verve and appreciate refined performance.
I hope it was a good season for all the skiers in our community and I look forward to continuing the work I do for all the cyclists/skiers at B.I. Cycle!
